Four Wabash Valley players, three of them from fifth-ranked Terre Haute South, have been named to the all-state tennis second team by the coaches association.

Honored from the Braves are Lauren Rowe and the doubles team of Bre Rogers and Andrea Saylor. Also picked for the second team is South Vermillion's Elizabeth Tindera.

Lily Yeagley of South is a first team academic all-state player.

Honorable mention players from the Valley are Paige Bennett of South, Kylee Shelton of Bloomfield and Kaitlyn Whitford of West Vigo.

Earning academic all-state honorable mention are Malea Toon of Bloomfield and Gretchen Weliever of Greencastle.

Baseball

• Finals set — At Indianapolis, the high school state championship games will be played June 17 and June 18 at Victory Field.

The Indianapolis Indians were unable to reserve this Friday and Saturday for the games.

• Falcon seeks funds — Keely Bush, a recent North Vermillion High School graduate, has been selected to play with America's Team that will travel to the Dominican Republic for a series of games this summer.

Auto racing

• PINK Ladies take the track — Brandi Eaton of Paris was the winner of the PINK Ladies competition Friday at Crossroads Dragway.

A portion of the money is donated at the end of the year to PINK of Terre Haute.
