Indiana State's men’s & women’s basketball programs will host Sycamore Summer Slam on June 26 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at The Landing at Fort Harrison which is located at 3350 N. 4th Street in Terre Haute.
This event is free and open to the public.
All members of the Indiana State basketball programs as well as head coaches Greg Lansing and Vicki Hall and their staffs will be on hand to meet with Sycamore fans during the two-hour event. There will be activities for kids and the opportunity to interact with the student-athletes outside and inside The Landing.
During this two-hour event season tickets will be on sale for both the men’s and women’s basketball program’s 2019-20 season.
Special flash sales will be held during this event for both programs. For those that purchase men’s season tickets in the upper level – those will be only $25 for the entire 13-game home schedule. For those that purchase women’s basketball season tickets – those will be available for just $30. All women’s basketball season tickets feature seating in the lower level.
There will be raffles and giveaway for fans in attendance including the chance to win a soon-to-be-announced grand prize for those that purchase season tickets. Food and drinks will be available.
• Post 346 9, Rockport 8 — At Vincennes, Terre Haute Post 346 defeated perennial power Rockport at Vincennes University.
Rockport led 8-6 in the middle of the fourth inning, but the bottom of the fourth was decisive for Terre Haute.
Garrett Loyed led off the inning with a triple and Brayton Reed drove Loyed home with a double to make it 8-7. Caleb Gonser later tied the game with a RBI single and Ethan Newman provided the go-ahead run.
Evan Newman and Joe Vrabic made sure the run held up as Rockport was held scoreless the rest of the way.
Post 346 is scheduled to play Newburgh at Vincennes tonight.
• Ag Fair results — At Martinsville, Ill., Eight heats of harness racing were run Monday evening in ideal conditions at the Martinsville Agricultural Fair.
The Great Midwest Pace and Great Midwest Trot, with two divisions, were first on the program with a total purse in excess of $14,000 for the three races.
Joe Joe's Violet and Joe Gotta Go were winners in the two divisions of the Trot while BC Octane took first in the Pace.
Freddie Wilson Jr. was in the bike for the first division of the Trot. Todd Warren of Casey was the driver for the other two winners and both are trained by Tim Wilson Jr. of Martinsville, giving the Clark Countians a sweep of the two events.
BC Octane is owned by former Marshall resident Ann Calvert, giving her two winners in the past three years. She and husband Barney and Wilson been have involved in the sport as a team since 1985.
"We've had about 100 horses," said Ann Calvert.
BC Octane and Wilson took a break from competing at Hoosier Park at Anderson to be at the fair. That season will run through November.
Ronnie Gillespie was the winning driver in the last three races while 71-year-old Randall had another one.
Monday was the only day for racing at the fair which runs through Saturday.
