Terre Haute North traveled to a neutral site to defeat Floyd Central 4-1 in a girls high school tennis match on Tuesday.

The Patriots sealed the victory with straight-set wins from No. 1 singles by Brittany Farmer (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 singles by Laura Burdick (6-1, 6-1) and No. 1 doubles duo Molly Williams-Katie Clagg (6-1, 6-3).

North improved to 8-1 on the season and will travel to Terre Haute South on Thursday.

n At West Vigo, the host Vikings outpointed Marshall, Ill., 96-31.

n At Clinton, Neil Vanatti won both throws and Shawn Hardey won both sprints and led off a winning sprint relay team as Northview defeated host South Vermillion and Riverton Parke.

n At Terre Haute North, the host Patriots dominated Princeton 104-28. Double winners for North included Amy Hamilton (800 and 1,600), Carol Weatherford (300-hurdles, high jump) and Kylie Hutson (pole vault and long jump).

n At West Vigo, visiting Marshall took 12 of 16 first-place finishes to defeat West Vigo 82.5-49.5. For the winning Lions, Whitney Tarble won the 100 and 200, while Serena Simeoli won the 1,600 and 3,200. Leaerin Moore won the 400 for the Vikings.

n At Clinton, Shandi Travis was a three-time individual winner as Northview dominated a three-way meet with host South Vermillion and Riverton Parke.

n At West Vigo, the host Vikings knocked off Turkey Run 12-2 in six innings. Drew Aff, Dereck Edwards and Corey Fagg all had three hits. Cogan Keith hit a home run.

n At Terre Haute North, the host Patriots scored three runs in the third inning in a 4-0 Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference victory over Ben Davis. For North, Skyler Pearson and Nick Ciolli combined to toss a one-hit shutout, while Josh Phegley had a double and two RBI.

n At Brazil, host team Northview had all nine starters hit safely and plated seven runs in the fifth inning to defeat South Vermillion 10-5 in a Western Indiana Conference game. John Reberger led the Knights going 4 for 4 with two doubles and a RBI, while Graig Bass drove in four runs.

n At Mecca, host team Riverton Parke exploded for a six-run fourth inning and went on to claim an 11-5 victory over Rockville in a Wabash River Conference game. Tyler Morgan led the winning Panthers going 2 for 3 with a three-run home run and four RBI.

n At Marshall, Ind., Chelsea Hanner struck out nine Shakamak batters and went 2 for 3 to lead Turkey Run to a six-inning 11-1 win against the Lakers.

n At Farmersburg, Jackie Porter went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer and a double to lead North Central to an 11-1 win against White River Valley.

n At Clay City, Kayla Baumgartner scored the winning run on a passed ball in the ninth inning as the Eels edged Riverton Parke 6-5. Baumgartner singled, stole second, and moved to third on a groundout to set up the winning run. Clay City scored two runs in the seventh to force extra innings. Chelsea Myers had four stolen bases for the Panthers in a losing cause.

n At Sullivan, winning pitcher Izzy Carpenter was 3 for 4 to lead a 13-hit attack as visiting Linton downed the Golden Arrows 8-4. Emily Lahay was 2 for 3 with three RBI for Sullivan.

n At Municie, Ill., visiting Paris erupted for 10 seventh-inning runs in a 12-0 win over Fithian Oakwood. Lindsey Nugent and Alicia Randall combined for the four-hit shutout and Jessica Marrs had a homer and a double for the Tigers.
