University blanked Shakamak 9-0 to capture the Class A Morristown Regional title for high school baseball Saturday night.

The Trailblazers will take a 21-10 record into semistate action against either Tecumseh or Barr-Reeve. The Lakers closed out a 17-11 season.

Earlier Saturday, Shakamak earned a spot in the regional championship contest with a 3-2 victory over No. 3-ranked Rising Sun, which finished its season 18-7.

In other high school baseball news Saturday:

No. 2 Rossville 4, No. 10 Riverton Parke 3 — At Flora, the Panthers were limited to four hits in the first-game loss at the Class A Carroll (Flora) Regional.

For Riverton Parke, Triston Herrick contributed a two-run double in the sixth inning and Hunter Collings also doubled and scored a run. Starting pitcher Garrett Lawson took the loss, dropping his record to 6-3.

Rossville managed only one hit after the crucial first inning in which it scored all four of its runs.

Coach Charlie Martin's Panthers concluded their 2019 campaign with a 19-11 mark. Rossville was 24-7 going into Saturday night's regional championship game.

Prep softball

No. 3 Fremont 3, North Vermillion 2 — At Frankfort, the Falcons were nipped in the semifinals of the Class A Frankfort Semistate on Saturday.

North Vermillion captured sectional and regional titles before finishing with a 22-4 record.

Auto racing

Midget Week slated — Indiana Midget Week U.S. Auto Club racing begins Wednesday and winds up next Sunday.

Two races are slated at tracks in the area: Lincoln Park Speedway and Bloomington Speedway.

Sullivan Summer Kick-Off — At Sullivan, the Sullivan Summer Kick-Off tournament took place Friday. 

There were 32 players who competed in four coed divisions. Players represented the Sullivan, Terre Haute and Vincennes areas.
