Terre Haute South remained unbeaten in nine-hole boys high school golf matches Monday, defeating South Vermillion 153-166 in pleasant weather at Matthews Park.

Freshman Thomas Goss was medalist with a 1-under-par 35 for the 6-0 Braves. “It was my first time to play this course,” he said after tying his best nine-hole score of the season and being medalist for the second time.

Shelby Stewart also was under 40 for the winners with 38. Brother James Stewart and Ian White each had 40 to round out South's scoring.

Freshman Logan Burdick was medalist for the 6-3 Wildcats for the second time in dual matches with 39 and Spencer Dunham shot 41.

South Vermillion was without three top players — Brandon Bekkering, Jordan Lowry and Aaron Perschbacher — but they should be in the lineup Thursday when the Wildcats play Terre Haute North at Geneva Hills.
