Military Service

Wayne E. Raley, of Terre Haute went to be with the Lord on his 84th birthday. He was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Jasonville, to Garrett Raley and Mable (Stewart) Raley. He was an electrician for Sandborn Electric and electrical supervisor at Indiana State University.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Irvin Titsworth Raley, whom he married Oct. 23, 2002; a daughter, Janice Cooprider and her husband Randy of Clinton; stepchildren, Don Fox, Billy Fox, Vickie Wohlers and her husband John, Becky Handley and her husband Ed, Carol Handley and her husband George, Kathy Lamar and her husband John, Chuck Fox and his wife Cheryl, all of Springfield, Ill., Kimberly Winter and her husband Kevin of Delaware, Jeffery Titsworth and his wife Amelia of Mooresville; grandchildren, CJ Cooprider, Brenda Cooprider, Matthew Cooprider, Clint Raley, Jeff Raley, Nick Raley, Emily Higginbotham, Robert Winter, Eric Winter, Kaylee Titsworth, Kyle Titsworth, Chas Fox, Britini Fox, Justin Fox, Katie Fox, Casey Fox, Blake Handley, Sarah Johnson, Troy Fugnitti, Victor Fugnitti, Kellie Basden, and Amie Smith; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He married Mary Lee Davison on Sept. 29, 1946; he then married Velma Fox on March 6, 1982, who passed away Nov. 20, 1996. He also was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; a son, Jeffery Raley; and a grandson, George Handley.

He was a graduate of Coalmont High School, and a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II. He was an active member of North Terre Haute Christian Church and active in Prime Time there. He also belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 725 for 55 years, and was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, from 9 to 11 a.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., with the Revs. Larry Scott and Ron Hadley officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton, with graveside military services provided by Lawton-Byrum Post 972 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Honorary pallbearers are Ivan Williamson, Joe Wilson, Robert Nelson, Tom Greene, Ray Black and Vance Pyle. If friends so desire, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to either North Terre Haute Christian Church of the Pine Haven Christian Children’s Ranch in Montana.
