Robert E. Hubbard, 71, of Terre Haute died at Union Hospital at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008. He was born in Parke County to William and Florence (Spurr) Hubbard. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Columbia House and retired after 39 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the SIRA (Southern Indiana Racing Association) for go-carts and the RC (radio controlled) Club. His interests were carting, flying airplanes and he was a big NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife, Constance (Payne) Hubbard; his son Allen Dale Hubbard and his wife Tracy Lynn; two stepsons, Phil and Bill Suter; a stepdaughter, Donna Liston; and two sisters, Patty Wachs and her husband Pete and Fran Krasek and her husband Jerry. There are nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Ray Hubbard; two infant daughters, Teri Lynn and Sue Ann Hubbard; a brother, Billy Hubbard; and three sisters Alice Woods, Betty Smith and Marjorie Scott.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with the Rev. Randy McPike officiating. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, in Clinton, with military honor guard giving graveside rites.
