MARSHALL, Ill. — Olive JoAnn McElravy, 74, East Greenwich, R.I., died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I. She was born June 29, 1933, in Sandborn, Ind., the daughter of Alexander McElravy and Alta Marie Dyer McElravy. She was a nurse instructor for 33 years at the University of Rhode Island, where she retired in 1995 as a professor emeritus. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in West Warwick, R.I., Delta Kappa Gamma Society, from which she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992, and a member of Sigma Delta Tau.

Survivors include her special cousins, Ruth Kemp, Sue and Mike Guillemette, all of Marshall, Mary Alice and Tom Fink of Batavia, Ill., Joe and Leah Guillemette of Oswego, Ill., and Catherine Fink of Batavia; and a host of other cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, David McElravy.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. CDT today in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, Ill. Visitation is 9 to 10 a.m. today preceding services in the funeral chapel. Graveside services are 1 p.m. EDT in Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
