Joseph A. Anderson, 62, of Terre Haute died Friday, April 27, 2007, at Union Hospital.

He was a singer and songwriter, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was born December, 25, 1944, in Terre Haute to Harlan Anderson and Ethel Davis Anderson. His wife, Judith Herman Anderson, survives him. Also surviving are sons, Larry Anderson of Indianapolis, Jerry Anderson of Greenwood, Robert Anderson of Brazil, and Westley Brock of Terre Haute; daughters, Natasha D. of Clinton, Kitty Shaw of Casey, Ill., and Dixie Brock of Terre Haute; brothers, John Anderson, Richard Anderson, Gerald Anderson, and Larry Anderson; grandchildren, Amber Rose, David, Doug, Austin, Elana, Sibrina, Jessie, Dalton, and Robert; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Emalita Butts.

He was a member of American Legion post 104, FOE 291, Veterans of Foreign Wars post 972, Wabash VAlley Corvette Club, ASCAP, and BMI. He loved country music and his Corvettes.

Services are 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Military rites will be performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars post 972. Calling hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Remains will be buried at Bethesda Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
