Jane D. Howse, 94, of Lafayette and formerly of Terre Haute departed from this earth Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, to be with her Lord. She passed away at St. Mary’s Nursing Center facility in Lafayette, where she had taken up residency since January 2006. Previously, she was cared for at Good Samaritan Home in Jasonville for approximately eight years.

She was born Oct. 24, 1912, in Auburn, N.Y., to Charles and Gertrude Mosher. Her life was devoted to serving the Lord Jesus Christ with her husband in ministry for more than 60 years. Their last full time pastorate was the Terre Haute Foursquare Church followed by a short six years at Briley Chapel of Lewis. Jane is survived by her husband of almost 76 years, the Rev. Bennett L. Howse who is currently of Lafayette. Also surviving are two sons; the Rev. Les Lee and his wife Sandra of Lafayette, the Rev. Daniel Howse and his wife Donna of Thousand Palms, Calif., and Margaret “Peggy” L. Nicholls and husband Glenn of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mary Lou MacDonald of Attica, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles, Edward and Harold; four sisters, Dorothy, Helen, Marjorie and Olive; and one daughter, Ellen Jane. Jane loved cooking, working with children’s ministries, singing solos at church and fishing.

Pastorates were Syracuse, N.Y., Chappell, Neb.; Ashland, Kan.; Taft, Calif.; Garden Grove, Calif.; Wooster, Ohio; Urbana, Ill.; Newton, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minn.; and Terre Haute. To God be the glory. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Viewing begins at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Indiana, 9135 N.
