ROBINSON, Ill. — Harry Donald Hanson, 82, of Robinson, Ill. died Sunday, April 1, 2007 in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born on March 29, 1925 in Oblong, Ill. to Raymond Leslie and Gladys Luellen Stoltz Hanson.

He married Lois Eileen Elliott in June 1947 and she survives. Other survivors include three sons, Gregory Scott Hanson and his wife Paula of Murphysboro, Ill., Michael Don Hanson and his wife Denise of Grand Tower, Ill., Jeffrey Lee Hanson of Carbondale, Ill.; a brother, Orlin Dwight Hanson of Robinson, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nolan and Chester Hanson.

He was a graduate of Robinson High School, and was retired as an operating engineer for CIPS. He was a member of the Grand Tower United Methodist Church, Robinson American Legion Post, Operating Engineers Local, and the Robinson Masonic Lodge. He formerly lived and raised his family in Grand Tower, Ill. During that time he founded Boy Scouts of America Troop 33 and was active in many associations with his sons. He also served for many years as the secretary for the Carbondale Bowling Association. Harry was an avid harness horse racing fan.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, at Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, Ill. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Butternut Cemetery, rural Martinsville. The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
