Clarence S. “Sam” Fleschner, 45, of Terre Haute died at 12:48 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, in Union Hospital. He retired as a sergeant first class with the Army after 22 years of service, and did carpentry work in Florida.

He was born March 27, 1960, in Terre Haute to Ernest S. Fleschner and Patricia A. House Fleschner. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Ernest S. and Mary Alice Fleschner of Terre Haute; one son, Caleb S. Fleschner of West Terre Haute; one sister, Cindy Jo Brown and her husband, Steven of Terre Haute; one stepsister, Angela McDonald and her husband Tom of Prairie Creek; one nephew, Shanon Brown and his wife Christy of Terre Haute; great-nephews, Andrew and Dalton Brown; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother in December of 2003; his stepmother, Joan Fleschner in January of 2003; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He was an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Revs. Mark Fleschner and Dan Gormong officiating. Burial is in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, with graveside military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 and the U.S. Army. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home.
