BRAZIL — Betty Marie Huffman passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at the Cloverleaf Health Care Facility at the age of 76. She was born Feb. 22, 1931 in Brazil, to James and Lola Love Smith. On Aug. 23, 1952, she married William E. “Bill” Huffman, he survives. She is also survived by two sons and their wives, Doug and Mindy Koehler Huffman of Center Point and Gary and Maria Girton Huffman of Brazil; four grandchildren, Laura Huffman of Lafayette, Clay Huffman of Center Point, Jenae Huffman of Brazil and Kaley Huffman of Brazil; two sisters, Marjorie Thomas of Brazil and Ann Griffin of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean McGranahan and two brothers, Don and Jim Smith.

Betty graduated from Brazil High School in 1949 and from St. Anthony Hospital of Nursing in 1952. She worked for Dr. Moon in Center Point for four years and at his office in Brazil for several more years. She also worked as a teacher’s aid at Staunton Elementary School for 16 years. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and taught 4 and 5 year olds for many years. She was also active in the Missions Committee, Best Years Club and the Church Newsletter.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, in the First Christian Church in Brazil, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, in the church, and again from 9 a.m. until services on Thursday. Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Building Fund. French Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
