State data report Friday

Four new cases of COVID-19 are reported today in the eight-county District 7 of west central Indiana.

Sullivan County added one new case for 31 total, with one death, as the pandemic continues.

Vigo County is at 131 confirmed cases with seven deaths.

According to data posted by the Indiana State Department of Health, Clay is at 36 cases with one death. Vermillion County has eight cases and Parke County has 17 cases.

Greene County is at 167 cases with 22 deaths. Putnam County has 127 cases with six deaths. Owen County has 29 confirmed cases and one death.

District 7 now has 546 confirmed cased of COVID-19, with 38 total deaths. Most of those in Greene County have occurred at a nursing home facility. Of deaths in the district, 66 percent have occurred in people age 80 and older. More than 60 percent of those who died are female, demographic data indicates.

ISDH today announced that 493 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories. That brings to 30,409 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.

Intensive care unit and ventilator capacity remain steady. As of today, nearly 38 percent of ICU beds and more than 81 percent of ventilators were available as of Friday.

A total of 1,791 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 27 over the previous day. Another 150 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 208,561 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 202,995 on Thursday.

Marion County had the most new cases, at 122. Other counties with more than 10 new cases were Allen (54), Delaware (10), Elkhart (61), Hamilton (12), Lake (42), Porter (33) and St. Joseph (16). Hoosiers who have symptoms of COVID-19 and those who have been exposed and need a test to return to work are encouraged to visit a state-sponsored testing site for free testing. Individuals without symptoms who are at high risk because they are over age 65, have diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or another underlying condition, as well as those who are pregnant, live with a high-risk individual or are a member of a minority population that is at greater risk for severe illness, also are encouraged to get tested.
