Sullivan County and other Indiana residents are mourning the loss of 30-year-old Tyler Clidienst, a machinist's mate in the Navy who died Feb. 2
Gov. Eric Holcomb is directing flags in Sullivan County to be flown at half-staff to honor Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class Clidienst. Flags should be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of his funeral, Monday.
The governor also asks businesses and residents in Sullivan County to lower their flags to half-staff on Monday to honor Clidienst.
Clidienst was born in Washington, Indiana, raised in Sullivan and stationed in Norfolk. He died at the hospital in Norfolk. He was the son of Mike and Jan (Bedwell) Clidienst.
A 2006 graduate of Sullivan High School, he joined the Navy in August 2009. His service included four deployments.
Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Westside Church of Christ on U.S. 41 and Airport Road. Services are at noon Monday at the church.
Immediately following the service, the procession will go from the church north on 41 past the Sullivan County Community Hospital, south down Section Street to Johnson Street to his final resting place at the Center Ridge Cemetery.
