Terre Haute man faces child molesting charge

A Terre Haute man faces a charge of child molestation after being accused of touching or fondling a child under the age of 14.

Joseph William Terrell, 72, was booked into Vigo County Jail on Friday evening on one count of child molesting as a Level 4 felony. Bond is set at $75,000; 10 percent does not apply. He is scheduled to appear in Vigo Superior Court 1 on Thursday morning.

Terrell is accused of sexual contact with a 13-year-old juvenile in a residential bathroom in 2018, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by a Vigo County Sheriff's Office detective.

Terrell denied the accusation, according to the affidavit.
