James Stewart

A Terre Haute man has been arrested on child molestation charges  after an investigation revealed a victim had been abused for more than 10 years, according to police.

James Stewart, 53, was booked into the Vigo County Jail Wednesday night with bond set at $50,000. He faces a Level 1 felony and two Class-A felony child molesting charges in Vigo Superior Court 3.

According to an investigation by city police Detective Sanford Scott Jr., the victim told an investigator at Susie's Place she has been molested by Stewart since age 3.

A recent medical examination revealed the child was pregnant, Scott reported, and the child's mother said Stewart arranged for an abortion after he was told about the pregnancy.
