A drug case filed this week against a Sullivan man has moved into federal court.
Levi B. Tackett, 30, now faces a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute following his June 2 arrest. If convicted in the Southern District of Indiana, Terre Haute Division, Tackett faces a potential sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
Tackett was arrested after an Indiana State Police trooper responded to Sullivan for a report of a baseball bag and gear being stolen from a parked vehicle.
The victim told police he saw Tackett carrying the bag and confronted Tackett, but Tackett walked away saying he was going to an apartment on Harris Street.
The trooper located Harris at his girlfriend’s apartment, and she allowed police to enter. Police said Tackett was found in possession of a pound of methamphetamine, as well as paraphernalia and marijuana.
Tackett has multiple prior arrests in Sullivan, Vigo, Knox and Greene counties, according to online court records.
