Calling all kids who love to cheer! Whether you are in kindergarten, fifth or eighth grade, the Terre Haute North Vigo High School cheerleaders have something new to teach you and will give you an opportunity to show your new skills during half-time of the Feb. 2 boys varsity basketball game.

Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the clinic begins at 11, lasting until 2:30 p.m., when parents can return to see what their child has learned. Clinic participants are invited to return that night before 7 p.m. to perform their new skills during halftime of the varsity basketball game. Participants will get in free to the game and a parent accompanying them will be admitted at a reduced rate of $3. Registration forms for the clinic will be available in the local elementary and middle schools and will be passed out at future North home basketball games.

First-year head coach Jenilee Hooker looks forward to this clinic. ”Having this clinic makes it really nice for the young kids of the community to learn new skills and also gives them role models to look up to.” Senior basketball cheer captains Kelsie Noble and Lisa Petscher agree and add, “We like getting to know the kids personally and working with them on a more individual basis. It’s a great opportunity to see the upcoming talent that the North cheer program can look forward to.” Cost of the clinic is $25, which includes a clinic T-shirt, snack, certificate and treat bag. Walk-ins are welcome to register the morning of the clinic. For more information, call Terre Haute North at (812) 462-4312.
