The sentencing of a former church van driver convicted of child molestation has been delayed until February.

Robert Eric Posey, 40, faces 20 to 50 years in prison after being convicted by a jury on Dec. 2 of having sex with a girl under the age of 15 in June 2009.

However, Posey filed a request with Vigo Superior Court 3 in December asking that he be allowed to represent himself during the sentencing. Posey had been represented by public defender Dennis Majewski during the trial.

On Wednesday, Judge David Bolk heard another request from Posey to withdraw from representing himself. Bolk appointed attorney Mark Inman as public defender and reset the sentencing to Feb. 18.

Prosecutor Terry Modesitt said following the guilty verdict that he anticipates arguing for a 40- to 45-year sentence for Posey.

The sentence imposed will be up to Bolk.
