The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce has hired a national consulting firm to help the pro-business organization find a new president.

The chamber has hired Organization Dynamics LLC, a Connecticut-based firm specializing in assisting not-for-profit organizations, to help it recruit a new president to replace Rod Henry, who led the chamber for more than two decades.

Organization Dynamics, which often assists chambers of commerce and economic development corporations, will help the chamber narrow its search to “a couple of different candidates,” said Rick Braden, chamber board chairman. “At that time, the [chamber] search committee will select someone and then go to the board for final approval,” he said.

There is no specific timeline in place for having a new president, Braden said. However, the chamber is hoping to have its new president by the end of March, he said.

Because Henry was the chamber president for 21 years, the entire selection process is new to virtually everyone involved, Braden noted.

As part of the selection process, Organization Dynamics representatives will meet with local business leaders and also conduct group discussions with chamber members, Braden said. Those meetings will identify the qualities necessary in a new chamber president, he said.

Braden believes the new chamber president will be stepping into a strong organization and community.

“No matter who comes in, our community is in great shape right now,” Braden said. “It’s a great time to be in Terre Haute.”

Since Henry announced his resignation in late July, the chamber has been operating with an interim leader, Bob Quatroche, a former vice president for advancement at Indiana State University and an executive vice president at the ISU Foundation.

Quatroche, who also has served as the interim leadership role at the United Way of the Wabash Valley, is not a candidate for the permanent position, Braden noted.

The chamber expects to advertise for candidates in about three or four weeks, Braden said.
