The Whitewater Valley Railroad is proud to announce its partnership with Rail Events Inc. (through Warner Brothers Entertainment Inc.) to bring the only officially licensed event to the Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, and Indianapolis metro areas, based on the holiday film “The Polar Express,” originally released in 2004 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Railroad’s November and December schedule will feature The Polar Express excursion as the premier special event during this holiday season.

It will come to life when the train departs Connersville’s Grand Central Station for a journey through the quiet countryside for a special visit to the North Pole with Santa Claus. Guests on board will enjoy hot chocolate and cookies while listening and reading along with the magical story. Experience the joy of watching the children’s faces when the train arrives at the North Pole, where Santa Claus and his helpers will be waiting.

Santa will board The Polar Express, where he will greet each child and hand them their own special sleigh bell during the return to the station. Families are sure to make this an annual holiday tradition.

The Polar Express schedule of departures is 5:30 p.m. today; 5:30 and 7:45 p.m. Friday; 5:30 and 7:45 p.m. Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15; and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 2, 9 and 16.

Tickets are $26 per adult and $16 per child. Tickets are on sale now.

The Polar Express film reunites the Academy Award-winning team of Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis in an inspiring adventure based on the beloved children’s book, by Chris Van Allsburg, about a doubting young boy who takes and extraordinary train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. “The Polar Express,” published by Houghton Mifflin Company has become a contemporary holiday classic, with more than 6 million copies sold worldwide.

Established in 1972, the Whitewater Valley Railroad is a nonprofit railroad history organization. It is an operating railroad museum dedicated to the preservation of a historic branch line railroad, the restoration of railroad equipment, and to the conduct of railroad educational programs.

The railroad is operated by volunteers and all proceeds from this event will be used to further the organization’s mission.
