The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir will welcome the holiday season with the ever-popular annual Festival of Carols performances Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
Tickets are on sale now for both evenings at St. John the Evangelist Church on Dec. 2 and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, in Carmel, on Dec. 3. Both performances begin at 8 p.m.
The Festival of Carols is a traditional signature event for the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, which is marking its 75th anniversary season.
The 165-voice Choir is one of the most active symphonic choruses in the nation, reaching more than 25,000 people each season with dozens of performances and a comprehensive educational outreach program.
Joining the Symphonic Choir for the Festival of Carols will be the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and this year’s Spotlight Choir, the Emmerich Manual High School Choir.
The Spotlight Choir series unites area middle and high school choirs with the Symphonic Choir in a side-by-side rehearsal and performance opportunity, providing intergenerational learning experiences.
“In addition to the familiar carols like ‘Silent Night’ and ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful,’ I’m especially looking forward to the world premiere performance of two new Christmas carols that the Choir commissioned this year,” says Eric Stark, artistic director of the Choir.
Tickets are $20 for regular seating and $25 for preferred VIP seating.
