A Knox County man died Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash east of Carlisle that also injured a Sullivan County woman.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom said 47-year-old Michael Kean of Bruceville died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Karen Nash, 62, of Sullivan was seriously injured and taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital in serious condition, Cottom said.

The crash occurred at 5:15 p.m. on County Road 700 South near County Road 400 East.

Cottom said Nash was driving a westbound 2005 Jeep Liberty that went off the right side of the road near a hill crest. The Jeep then veered left into the path of Kean's eastbound 2000 GMC Sonoma.

An Indiana State Police crash reconstruction team was called to assist deputies with the investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Sullivan County Ambulance and Haddon Township Fire Department.

County Road 700 South was closed for about five hours.
