Union Hospital Inc. board of directors unanimously approved a name change for West Central Community Hospital to Union Hospital Clinton, states a release today from Union Hospital Health Group.

“We feel this name further demonstrates our commitment to provide this community with the highest level of medical care,” said David Doerr, Union Hospital president and chief executive officer.

Terri Hill, Union Hospital Clinton administrator, believes the new name more closely identifies the hospital with Union Hospital’s main campus in Terre Haute, a step she’s looked forward to since Union Hospital assumed operational responsibility of West Central Community Hospital in 1996. Union Hospital purchased the hospital in 2006.

“In making this decision, the board of directors listened directly to our consumers. Our name is changing, our ability to provide exceptional services and technology will continue to grow,” Hill said.

The name change will take effect in June. The hospital will work on new signage and updating hospital materials in the next several months.
