The Purdue Extension Vermillion County Office will be hosting a free Raising Backyard Poultry & Showing Poultry program at the Vermillion County Fairgrounds, Community Building in Cayuga Park (325 W. Maple St., Cayuga, IN 47928) on July 25 starting at 6 p.m.

Dr. Darrin Karcher, Purdue Extension Poultry Specialist, will discuss small flock poultry basics for raising backyard chickens. Karcher will also provide best management practices to increase the overall poultry experience of small flock owners and youth audiences alike. Then Elizabeth Simmermeyer, Indiana State Poultry Association, will discuss biosecurity, showmanship, as well as sharing what services the Indiana State Poultry Association has to offer. This free program is intended for small flock poultry owners, 4-H youth, and anyone else interested in learning more about raising and showing poultry.
