Bring the whole family this Father’s Day for the 1.5 mile tour during Sundays at the Woods: Walk in the Woods, on June 16 from 2 to 4 p.m., sponsored by White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana.

Enjoy the nature trail and cosmic walk at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, as well as learn how the Congregation helps manage the forest and care for this important resource. Forester Stu Haney will guide the tour.

“Folks will gather at White Violet Center Farm Store at 2 p.m., and ride a bus to the trail head,” WVC Director Lorrie Heber said. “The nature trail tour is a 1.5 mile walk and hiking shoes or boots are recommended.

“Stu helps manage the magnificent woods of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. He will point out the unique features of these woods and its species and talk about its management and its challenges.”

Haney is a consulting forester for Haney Forestry.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Southern Illinois University and an associate of applied science degree in Forest Technology from Southeastern Illinois College.

There is no cost to attend, but donations will be warmly welcomed.
