Photographic works by Spencer Young of Clinton will be featured throughout August in River City Art Association’s artist of the month gallery space in the Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets in Terre Haute.
The subject of Young’s display is his trip to China in 2008, including a black-and-white image titled “Gobi Desert Dune.”
Traveling to photograph solar eclipses and the Northern Lights is another favorite pastime for Young. He also creates computer-assisted drawings and fractal flame imagery, both of which have been featured in gallery space at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Young, one of RCAA’s most prolific artists, has won several awards in local and regional art exhibitions. Also this month, he has award-winning artwork in the Annual Midwest Photography Juried Exhibition in the Paris Bicentennial Art Center and Museum in Paris, Illinois.
The China exhibit will be featured again in September in RCAA’s Outreach Gallery at Harrison College.
RCAA membership is open to Indiana and Illinois artists age 18 and older. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month unless otherwise noted. For more details, visit RiverCityArt.org or call past president Todd Stokes at 812-232-0048.
