Artwork by Eugene A. Thomas will be featured throughout June in River City Art Association’s Artist of the Month gallery in the Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets in Terre Haute.
“I can’t remember back far enough when I haven’t worked at some kind of art,” said Thomas, 74, of Fairview Park, west of Clinton.
“I am mostly self-taught,” Thomas said. “I like most kinds of art, but tend toward realist forms.”
Thomas exhibits original oil paintings as well as prints of his original artwork on paper and canvas. One of his prints on canvas at the library, titled “Festival Morning,” is a view of downtown Rockville and the courthouse square during the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival in 1990.
“I am ... married to a wonderful lady, Susie,” Thomas said. “We both love God and life.”
Thomas’ artwork will be showcased again in July in the RCAA Artist of the Month gallery in Harrison College.
He also will have an oil painting of the original Bridgeton bridge in RCAA’s Bicentennial Legacy Project, “Indiana Heritage Art Exhibition,” to be featured throughout July in the Vigo County Public Library.
River City Art Association meets at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the VCPL. For details on RCAA membership contact officers Todd Stokes at 812-232-0048 or Mike Bender at 812-251-7724.
