The murder mystery dinner theme on Oct. 18 at Castle Finn Winery will be “CSI TRANSYLVANIA — Murder at the Vampire Zombie Apocalypse!”
Reserved dinner guests will get to help solve Who Dunnit? The Wolf-man? Dracula? Frankenstein? Or the person sitting beside them?
The audience is free to sample wines in the wine tasting room; a bottle or glass of wine, beer or a mixed drink can be purchased to enjoy during the program and the meal. During this advance time, the evening’s actors may mingle with the crowd and seek volunteers to play some of the short parts. This is voluntary and adds to a hilarious evening when dinner guests get a chance to showcase their talents, or even flubs.
The appetizer will be a vegetable tray with dip. Dinner, catered by McDaniels Catered Elegance in Paris, Ill., will include chicken cordon bleu, beef stroganoff with egg noodles, baby baker potatoes, French style green beans, glazed carrots, salad with three dressings, dinner roll, and various desserts.
Hors d’oeurves start at 6 p.m. CDT. The show starts at 6:30. Dinner is after the first act. Dessert is after the second act, during which time the audience votes on who committed the murder. The third act is a recap of what has taken place and the murderer is identified.
Price is $40 per person and includes hors d’oeurves, dinner, dessert and show. Last day to purchase tickets is Oct. 11.
Seating is limited. To make a reservation by credit card, call Castle Finn Winery at 217-463-2600. Or stop by Castle Finn Winery to make reservations using cash or check. Many performances sell out, so early reservation is advised.
