Pierce-Shorter
Ashley C. Pierce and Kyle C. Shorter were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27, 2008, in Central Presbyterian Church in Terre Haute.
Randy McNeely officiated.
Organist Gary Jenkins provided music.
The bride is the daughter of Sherrie Pierce of Sullivan and the late Larry Pierce. She is a 2008 graduate of Indiana State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. She is pursuing a master of science degree in accounting at the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, Purdue University-Indianapolis.
The bridegroom is the son of Alice and Ronnie Shorter of Sullivan. He is a 2008 graduate of ISU with a degree in social science education. He is a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and a gold bar recruiter.
The bride was given in marriage by her mother.
April Shorter Childress, sister of the bridegroom, was honor attendant. Kaylan McKain, Sarah Boone-Pirtle, Jenny Hildebrand and Amanda Hahn were bridesmaids.
Matt DuPre was best man. Jason Childress, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Luke Hancock, Jordan Cox and Gavin Crooks were groomsmen.
Kyle Hoffman, Drew Nurrenbern and Neil Smith were ushers.
Annie Smith was flower girl.
Nancy Gettinger, cousin of the bride, and Ted Gambill, uncle of the bridegroom, were readers.
Elizabeth Gettinger, cousin of the bride, was guest book attendant.
A reception followed in O’Shaughnessy Hall in Providence Center at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
Nancy Gettinger, Susan Abrams, aunt of the bride and Lela Street, cousin of the bridegroom, were hosts of a wedding shower.
The couple now reside in Terre Haute.
Baxter-Pitts
Jaclyn Baxter and Jack “P.J.” Pitts were united in marriage on Aug. 2, 2008, in the Rockville Christian Church at Rockville.
Brad Bumgardner officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Karen and Gene Baxter of Rockville. She is a 2002 graduate of Rockville High School and a 2006 graduate of Indiana State University with a degree in social sciences education. She is a teacher and coach at Riverton Parke High School and an independent Mary Kay Beauty consultant.
The bridegroom is the son of Sue and Jack Pitts of West Terre Haute. He is a 1994 graduate of West Vigo High School and attended Ivy Tech Community College. He is employed by Pitts Hauling, and officiates basketball and football games.
Jessica Baxter and Melissa Bockhold were honor attendants. Kori Johnson, Tiffani Martin, Lee Ann Funk, Ellen Lunsford and Gina Nepote were bridesmaids.
Charley Funk and Mark Hopper were best men. Sean Fellows, Greg Hayes, Craig McPike, Riley Baxter and Adam Lowe were groomsmen.
Mackenzie Cole was flower girl. Carson Cox was ring bearer. Evan Lunsford was usher.
Darla Hopper was guest book attendant. Kemp Harper was program attendant.
A dinner and dance reception followed in the Eagles Aerie at Clinton.
A bridal shower luncheon was given by Joanie Lunsford, aunt of the bride, and Melissa Bockhold, Ellen Lunsford, Gina Nepote and Jessica Baxter were hosts of a wedding shower.
The couple took a wedding trip to Gatlinburg and Nashville, Tenn., and now reside near Terre Haute.
Straw-Youngblood
Saralyn Straw and Brent Youngblood were united in marriage during a private ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in Mulligan’s Bar and Grill.
A reception followed.
The bride is the daughter of Wanda Fidler of Farmersburg and the late Harold Fidler. She is employed by the AP&S Eye Center.
The bridegroom is the son of Nina Youngblood of Terre Haute and the late Owen Youngblood. He is employed by Woodco Walls.
The couple now reside in Terre Haute.
