Liddy Wright of Rockville has been named one of the nine finalists in the Blue Bell Ice Cream Do Tell! contest. Last month the ice cream company asked fans, via its website bluebell.com, to submit a fun and unique personal story about Blue Bell. And now “the best ice cream in the country” is asking for your help to choose the grand-prize winner.
The nine finalists’ stories can be found at bluebell.com. Everyone is encouraged to read each entry and cast a vote for their favorite. The finalist receiving the most votes will be named the winner.
In Wright’s entry she tells of an illness she contracted in 2009 that left her in need of a transplant. With very little appetite she found herself only craving ice cream and soon discovered Blue Bell. “While those seven weeks on the waiting list seemed like forever, I survived on Blue Bell milkshakes, lovingly made by my husband and No. 1 caregiver,” she wrote.
With her health back, Wright is happy to joke that Blue Bell saved her life but says she knows the importance of organ donation. “A lot of people know what I have gone through and said I should tell my story to Blue Bell,” Wright said after finding out she had been named a finalist. “This is another way for me to tell how much of a tremendous and amazing gift I was given.”
To read Wright’s entire entry visit bluebell.com by Friday and cast your vote to help choose the grand prize winner.
Blue Bell received more than 1,800 entries during the month-long contest. The nine finalists were awarded a year’s supply of Blue Bell Ice Cream along with several other prizes.
The grand prize winner will be announced Oct. 9 and will win a VIP trip to Blue Bell headquarters in Brenham.
