Church records to be topic at Aug. 12 genealogy meeting

The Wabash Valley Genealogy Society will be offering the educational forum “Cradle to Grave: Church Records in the Indiana State Library” on Aug. 12 in Terre Haute.

The program will be presented by Diane Sharp, supervisor of the Genealogy Collection of the Indiana State Library.

The program will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Rooms A, B & C of the Vigo County Public Library. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Church records are important resources that can provide a wealth of information about our ancestors.

In this program, Sharp will discuss use of these records and feature materials available in the collections of the Indiana State Library.

Sharp has a bachelor’s degree in history and received her master’s degree in library science from Indiana University Bloomington in 1971.

She was employed at the Indiana State Library serving as assistant to the Genealogy Division head and Genealogy Senior Subject Specialist until appointed as head of the Genealogy Collection.
