Vigo County 4-H Open House coming up in March

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — 4-H Youth Development is a great way to meet new friends and give back to the community. 4-H is the largest youth organization in the nation. Members of 4-H work with adult and teen volunteers to learn and build skills that will help them become better people. More than 50 4-H projects offer something for everyone.

A Vigo County 4-H Open House will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 2 at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds in the Floriculture Building/Community Center. The open house allows people to enroll in the program, learn more about each project and visit with current 4-H members and volunteers.

4-H club-based programs are open to students in grades three through 12. Mini 4-H is available for first- and second-grade students at no cost. Be a part of club meetings, tours, trips, camps, fairs and scholarships.

The yearly enrollment fee is $15 ($45 maximum per family). Additional costs depend on select projects. Financial assistance is available. Enrollment forms can be found at schools in January or at www.extension.purdue.edu/vigo. Visit the Vigo County Extension office at 275 Ohio St.; call or email Krista Farthing or Sarah Gaughan at (812) 462-3371, kfarthin@purdue.edu or sgaughan@purdue.edu; or visit www.extension.purdue.edu/vigo to learn more.
