Former Martinsville shop owner, Tribune-Star food columnist celebrates 90th birthday

---- — Eileen Hardway of Martinsville, Ill., will celebrate her 90th birthday on Oct. 7, during a family luncheon in her honor.

She will mark this milestone with her two daughters, Anita (Mark) Wankel of Pleasant Plains, Ill., and Deena (Geff) Burris of Cedar Falls, Iowa; five grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Eileen Dickey was born on Oct. 6 to Roy and Edna Dickey.

On March 15, 1948, she married Chester Hardway, who died in August 2001. She owned and operated Eileen’s Gift Shop in Martinsville, worked at Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville, and wrote The Kitchen Shelf recipe column for the Terre Haute Tribune-Star for about 17 1⁄2 years.
