Register for farm law and taxes seminar

TERRE HAUTE — Farming on the Fringe, a farm law and taxes seminar, with estate and business transfer planning, is set for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 8 at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds, 3901 S. U.S. 41.

Program topics are intended for individuals, their spouses, adult children and especially those with interests in family-owned businesses. Professionals who assist others with their legal, tax and estate and financial planning needs are encouraged to register. Continuing education credit is available for Indiana accountants: 5.3 hours of CPE and for Indiana lawyers 5.3 hours of CLE.

Presenter Gerry Harrison, Extension economist and member of the Indiana Bar, is a professor in the department of agricultural economics, Purdue University. He has presented programs on agricultural law topics and estate and family business transfer planning for nearly 40 years. Besides research, teaching and writing for Purdue Extension he has taught three courses at Purdue: estate transfer planning, federal income tax and agricultural law.

Registration is required via Purdue Extension, Vigo County office. Registration form deadline is March 6, and the cost is $30 per individual, $20 for a registered individual’s spouse. Adult children are encouraged to register as individuals.

The cost for professional continuing education credit is $75, add $20 for an individual’s second professional CE certification.

Registration includes materials, continental breakfast, lunch, break drinks and snacks. Make checks payable to: Vigo County Extension Education Fund. Register by U.S. mail or at the Purdue Extension, Vigo County office, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more details, call 812-462-3371.
