Valley women, teens to compete in Miss Indiana pageants

TERRE HAUTE — Beginning today, young women from across Indiana will gather to begin competition for the titles of Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen. A record-tying number of 32 contestants between the ages of 17 and 24 will compete for the title of Miss Indiana in two preliminary nights of competition (Wednesday and Thursday) and Miss Indiana during Saturday night finals. A record high 26 women between the ages of 13 and 17 will compete for Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen on Friday.

The events will take place at Zionsville High School Performing Arts Center, 1000 Mulberry in Zionsville. For tickets call 574-527-7795.

Three Miss Indiana contestants and two Outstanding Teen contestants live in or attend school in the Wabash Valley.

People’s Choice: Once again, the public may vote for a favorite contestant to automatically become a “People’s Choice” finalist for the Miss Indiana title at www.missindianapageant.com/peopleschoice/peopleschoice.php. One Miss and one Teen winner will get an automatic berth in the Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen finals. Votes are $1 each and proceeds benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (like Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis) and the Miss Indiana Scholarship Fund.

Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen are official state preliminary pageants of the Miss America Organization. More information is available at www.missamerica.org.
