TERRE HAUTE — My family loves pork chops. I think that was my husband’s folks’ favorite. They were our boys’ favorite. Well with my apple trees, I made applesauce, apple butter, about anything you could think of.

When the grandkids came along, they enjoyed the same things, but they didn’t want the apples if they could see them. So I tried applesauce in this recipe. Why not? You have the same flavor. Everyone enjoyed them. Hope you enjoy these as much.

Applesauce Pork Chops

6 thick pork chops

salt and pepper

1⁄2 cup brown sugar

1⁄2 cup soy sauce

1⁄2 cup apple sauce

2 tablespoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons catsup

1⁄2 teaspoon ginger

• Salt and pepper pork chops and bake in pan at 350 degrees for one hour.

• Drain but leave one tablespoon of fat from pan.

• In sauce pan, combine remaining ingredients and heat until mixture thickens.

• Pour over pork chops.

• Return to oven and bake another half hour.
