Gomolisky celebrates 90th birthday

TERRE HAUTE — World War II survivor Joseph P. Gomolisky celebrated his 90th birthday Saturday, March 16, 2013, during a family dinner in his Terre Haute residence.

Joseph was born March 16, 1923, in West Terre Haute to Mabel and Charles Gomolisky.

Gomolisky was drafted into the Army in 1942 after graduating from Valley High School in West Terre Haute. He was sent to England in 1943 where he was assigned to the 8th Air Force, 447th Bombardment Group.

Gomolisky’s brothers, John of Annnapolis, Md., and Jack of Terre Haute, and other relatives recognized and honored him on his birthday; his parents, three sisters and one brother are deceased.
