Vectren Foundation in Evansville is looking out for the best interest of Vigo County youth through a $1,500 grant to the Child Enrichment Fund of Vigo County CASA Kids.
CASA Kids is a charitable nonprofit that raises money to fund enrichment activities and meet the basic needs of foster children in the Wabash Valley community.
CASA Kids also helps support the Vigo County Court Appointed Special Advocates program that recruits, trains and empowers community volunteers to advocate in juvenile court for children involved in civil child abuse or neglect cases. “CASA Kids provides needed support for the entire CASA program, and enables volunteers and staff to broaden assistance for children,” stated Sharon Russell, CASA Kids advisory board chairperson.
Every year the CASA program matches more than 100 volunteers to more than 400 children who need help navigating the juvenile court system and voicing their desires.
