Liz Hager, regional coordinator for the Illinois Secretary of State’s organ/tissue donor program, will be at Marshall Public Library on Wednesday to provide information about the organ/tissue donor registry.
Today, there are about 5,000 people in Illinois awaiting transplants. Nationally, more than 117,000 are on waiting lists. According to statistics, many people on the list will die before organs become available. Each donor has the potential to help more than 25 people.
The donor drive will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
For more information call the library at 217-826-2535 or visit the Secretary of State’s website at www.lifegoeson.com.
