Candlelight vigil, tree lighting set

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — Doreena and Merv Javins, parents of Scott Javins, will host the ninth annual Candlelight Vigil and Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. Nov. 17. The event will be at the Ribbon of Hope on the south side of Terre Haute City Hall.

This event was created when the couple’s son, Scott, went missing May 24, 2002. His body was recovered Oct. 12, 2007, in the Wabash River.

The vigil is to honor all victims of crime, missing persons, and all military, past and present.

Two Christmas trees will be at the site, one for victims of crime and missing persons and one for military. Everyone is invited to attend the vigil and bring an ornament(s) for one or both trees.
