Benefit to raise money for 3-year-old cancer patient

TERRE HAUTE — A benefit for 3 1⁄2 year old Parker Auterson will be from 3 to 7 p.m. June 1 at the Zorah Shrine, 420 N. Seventh St. Auterson is battling kidney cancer.

The dinner includes homemade chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, a roll, a drink, and one dessert. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Kids 3 and under are free. Extra desserts are $1 each.

Auterson was born on Aug. 1, 2009, with amniotic band syndrome and suffered congenital amputation of her right leg. She has made many trips to Shriner’s Hospital in St. Louis, having surgeries and making adjustments to her prosthetic leg, which she affectionately calls “Mr. Foot.”

In addition, Auterson had emergency high-risk surgery March 15 at Peyton Manning’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis to remove her right kidney as well as a mass the size of a nerf football in the kidney. The mass was a Wilm’s tumor — a form of childhood kidney cancer. Now, Auterson is undergoing radiation and chemo treatments. The event will help raise funds to cover related medical expenses.

Follow Auterson’s journey on Facebook by searching “Princess Parker’s Progress.” The silent auction items will be listed on the Facebook page prior to the event.

Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased by calling 812-208-8610, 812-208-9071 or 812-841-0308. Free delivery is also available for those in Terre Haute.
