Beginning genealogy classes in March, April

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — The Wabash Valley Genealogy Society will offer a series of beginning genealogy classes on March 20 and 27, and April 3, 10, 17 and 24. The sessions will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the lower level meeting rooms of the Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Cost of the class is $25 and includes the cost of one free year of membership in the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society. Class size will be limited to 30 participants; early registration is advised.

Class participants will learn how to fill out genealogy charts, how to record and organize information, where to find information that will help them extend their family tree, and how to search online and in repositories.

The class is recommended for anyone new to genealogy and family history research, genealogy “dabblers” who need additional direction in order to advance their research, and researchers who want a refresher course in core research principles.

Each week the classes will be taught by different Genealogy Society members who will give instruction in their areas of expertise.

Register at or at any regular Genealogy Society meeting.
