Next Master Gardener training series set to begin

News Release

TERRE HAUTE — Area gardeners are invited to participate in the next Purdue Master Gardener Training Series.

The weekly program will be offered by Purdue Extension Vigo County on Tuesdays, Feb. 5 to May 7. This training series will be an afternoon program, with class time conducted from noon to 3 p.m. A program fee of $85 per person will provide all program materials.

Couples may share materials for a total program fee of $125. Registration will be limited to 20 persons for the training.

The Purdue Master Gardener program offers a varied series of classes, each of which focuses on specific gardening topics. Class modules cover topics including vegetable gardening, soils, pest management, tree care and perennial flowers. Classes are taught with a hands-on emphasis by a variety of skilled instructors who know and love their particular subject matter.

Following completion of coursework, the Purdue Master Gardener intern has one year to complete 35 hours of community outreach in helping others in the Wabash Valley area improve their gardening skills. Several projects are already available for interns to become involved with to complete their hours, and each intern can develop a unique set of activities to achieve certification.

Persons interested can contact the Purdue Extension Vigo County office at 812-462-3371.
