Sisters of Providence annual Used Book Sale set Aug. 1-9
Special to the Tribune-Star
ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS —
Books and more await shoppers at the Sisters of Providence Sixth Annual Used Book Sale, which begins Saturday and continues through Aug. 9 in Providence Center at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
The Gift Shop at Providence Center is sponsoring the event, which will be conducted in the Providence Center conference room directly across from The Gift Shop. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Gift Shop is also open during those hours for people who want to complete a great day of bargain hunting.
When people pay for their books, they are making a donation to support ministries of the Sisters of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Payments may be made by cash or check, and MasterCard and Visa credit cards are accepted.
Debbie Victor, manager of The Gift Shop, said people look forward to the book sale each year.
“We’ve established a reputation for a well-organized event,” Victor said. “They can browse at their leisure and walk away with a great value for their donation. We ask for a FAIR donation, meaning we want our customers to consider the value of the books they are choosing.”
Buyers may choose among Bibles, spirituality books, best-sellers, fiction and nonfiction, hardbacks, paperbacks and audiobooks, in addition to children’s books, movies (VHS and DVD formats) and audiocassettes. The books represent a wide range of topics, including gardening, home repair, hobbies, health, biographies and more. New to the book sale this year will be music books, LP’s, board games and puzzles.
St. Mary-of-the-Woods is located two miles north of West Terre Haute, off U.S. 150. Take St. Mary’s Road and travel up the hill to the second entrance on the right and follow the main road (The Avenue) straight back to Providence Center.
