Bridge: June 29, 2008

One of our newer players, Margie Kintz, continues her climb up the levels of expertise at the club. She captured the Rookie of the Year trophy in 2006, and Club Master accolades the following year. She is currently leading the 299ers, just ahead of Charles Parks. Parks plays just once or twice a week so his ranking is a testament to his skill. Carolyn Steinbaugh holds down third. She has won honors in each year of play at the club. Connie Shattuck leads the rest of this promising group: Rick Kleinheksel, Joan Chervenko, Dr. Jayesh Ramolia, Mona Sternfeld, Sharon Mason, Marty Cornelius, Arlene Luchsinger, Jim Jennings, Ann Kleinheksel, Maggie Oyer, Susan McCarthy, Barbara Phelan, Jane Longfield, Bill Scott, Bob Logsdon, Dan Scott, Alice Goodyear, Mel and Lucia Sinn, Pat Knauer, Elizabeth Parks, Gretchen Weston, Charles Bryan, Patty Cottom and Marjorie Raley.

With incomplete results filtering in we can report some positive results of local players at the recent Indianapolis Regional. Playing in the 199ers division, Jim Jennings, Dr. Jayesh Ramolia, Rick and Ann Kleinheksel all earned red master points. In the B stratum open pairs, Mary Lunsford and Tana Holt merited red points. Same for Judy Harris in the A stratum. She partnered with many-time tournament partner Jim Bottom of Russel Springs, Ky. Milt Van Reed and Joanna Hebermehl earned reds at Indy and a week later in Paducah, Ky., at their Regional.
