Hamilton Center announces that the Keynote Address for the 2007 Annual Dinner will be delivered by IU Men’s Basketball Coach Kelvin Sampson. The Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony will take place Sept. 18 at Indiana State University’s Hulman Center.

Study reveals 48 chemical pollutants found in pets
A recent study conducted by an environmental group concluded that cats most likely have more mercury in their systems than most people, and dogs were found to have twice as much chemicals from stain resistant carpets and sofas.

The Wabash Valley Genealogy Society has set their next public program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 12 in the Vigo County Public Library, lower level.

Gravestone restoration workshop set
Hixon Cemetery Association Ltd. will offer a one-day workshop on the restoration of gravestones on June 7 in the Parke County Learning Center at Rockville and at the Hixon Cemetery in Wabash Township, Parke County, about 2 miles east of Mecca.

REIN Center Coalition library to open
The REIN Center Coalition will open the REIN Center Community Library two days a week with volunteers. A major goal is to obtain a computer that is capable of running programs to check out books, catalog them, and print bar-codes. A printer/scanner/copier will be needed for processing the books and other library tasks.

Retired Terre Haute minister Loyal Bishop forms support
Loyal Bishop played three sports in college, earning seven varsity letters and induction into the Wittenberg University Hall of Honor. Aside from losing several teeth from jarring hits — Bishop returned kickoffs for the Tigers’ football team — he emerged with no lifelong injuries or chronic pain.
