Terre Haute Community Theatre to celebrate season with annual awards night

TERRE HAUTE — Community Theatre of Terre Haute will host its 60th annual Talley Awards at 8 p.m. Saturday to celebrate the completion of the 2012-2013 season.

The event is free and open to the public. Patrons will be treated to an evening of song and dance, in addition to learning who wins the coveted awards.

The celebratory evening will honor all of the volunteers from the season. The show for the night will honor all five main stage productions and feature musical numbers about theater life both on and off stage. Along with the standard awards, Community Theatre will also honor a group of individuals who have given at least 30 years of service.

Nominees for the Talley Awards

Best Actor: Josh Hoffman as Edna Turnblad and Matt Jenkins as Link Larkin in “Hairspray”; Jeffrey Ford as David in “Social Security.”

Best Actress: Katie Graves as Tracy Turnblad in “Hairspray”; Sandra K. Groves as Sister Mary Regina in “Nuncrackers”; Jude Ciancone as Constance Middleton in “The Constant Wife”; Marie Wimsett as Gaynelle Verdeen Bodeen, Brandi Reynolds as Peaches Verdeen Belrose and Sandy Fuqua as Jimmie Wyvette Verdeen in “The Red Velvet Cake War”; and Karen Crispin as Barbara in “Social Security.”

Best Supporting Actor: Philip Childs as Seaweed in “Hairspray”; Mark Frederick as Father Virgil Manly Trot in “Nuncrackers”; Jeffrey Ford as John Middleton and Trevor Ramsey as Bernard Kersal in “The Constant Wife”; Peter Ciancone as Newt Blaylock and Chuck Shutt as Uncle Aubrey in “The Red Velvet Cake War”; and Kevin Ward as Martin and Bill Carper as Maurice in “Social Security.”

Best Supporting Actress: Marcia Lane-McGee as Motormouth Maybelle in “Hairspray”; Jill Shutt as Sister Mary Hubert, Tilla Stalling as Sister Robert Anne and Denise Keegan as Sister Mary Paul (Amnesia) in “Nuncrackers”; Laura Reed as Martha Culver, Judy Dukes as Mrs. Culver and Gina Glaros as Marie Louise in “The Constant Wife”; Christina Phipps-Whitt as Elsa Dowall and Pam Virgilio as Lamerle Verdeen Minshew in “The Red Velvet Cake War”; and Jeri Doty as Trudy and Linda Green as Sophie in “Social Security.”

Awards will also be given for Best Production, Best Set and Best Technical Production.
