Lightwire Theater returns Feb. 23 to Hatfield Hall with DiNO-Light

After a sell-out performance last year, Lightwire Theater returns to Hatfield Hall on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 7 p.m. on Monday with an all new show, DiNO-Light.

Featured early last year on “America’s Got Talent,” Lightwire Theater’s unique brand of storytelling has captivated audiences.

DiNO-Light tells a heart-warming original story. The show features a friendly dinosaur who wanders away from home and discovers a world of creatures who light up the darkness and help him find the true meaning of love.

In DiNO-Light, a scientist creates a prehistoric creature with a kind heart. Eventually, the dinosaur strikes out to find his way in the world. Along the way, he encounters huge birds, fish, and a dangerous counterpart. Worried about the fate of his creation, the scientist ventures out to find his lost charge, and an epic battle ensues, bringing the story to a heart-tugging conclusion.

In an age when television, computers and video games reign supreme, the folks at Light Wire Theater, in conjunction with Corbian Visual Arts and Dance, have delighted audiences world-wide with a cutting edge blend of puppetry, technology and dance.

Broadwayworld.com called the show “ an eye-popping display of storytelling that’s like nothing else you’ve ever seen.”

Corbian Visual Arts and Dance is led by artistic directors Ian Carney and Corbin Popp. The group utilizes illuminated wiring, puppetry, and a troupe well versed in dance and movement, to bring this poignant tale to life.

Lined with electroluminescent wire, the puppets illuminate the darkened stage as they both entertain and impart life lessons to their young audience.

“We’re really looking forward to the return of the Lightwire puppeteers,” said Hatfield Hall Venue Manager, Bunny Nash. “Immediately after last year’s performance of ‘The Ugly Duckling,’ I rebooked them.”

A special pre-show outreach has been planned at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum for 1 p.m. Families can see the science behind the show, and receive a coupon good for $1 off an adult ticket for the evening’s performance.

Tickets for Lightwire Theater are $5 for youth (12 and under) and $10 for adults, and may be purchased at hatfieldhall.com, by phone at 812-877-8544 or in person at the Hatfield Hall ticket desk. For complete season information, including artist videos and more, visit hatfieldhall.com.
